Painting by Giannina Borgese
Giannina works from her home in Glen Iris, she has been a designer since completing textile design at RMIT. Designing wedding dresses with her sister, Angelina Baccini, using her hand made textile to add flair and point of difference to special gowns. She operated an award-winning business in High St, Armadale for 13 years.
After the birth of her 4th child, Giannina retired from the business to concentrate on her family. It was while she was building her home, Giannina decided it needed art for the walls, the definition of a blank canvas. She picked up the paints at hand, stole a paintbrush from the house painter, a leaf, a branch, or a feather to create texture and depth onto the canvas. Her first abstract painting in a long time was born. It now hangs above her fireplace.
She has a love for the outdoors, nature and beautiful views, drawing inspiration from these things to create abstracts in acrylic on large canvas, but is flexible on size, as well as subject matter. From florals, landscapes, and contemporary modern art that suit many homes.
Her art has been described as "uplifting and joyful" and attracts the eye initially at a glance but holds the eye to explore more detail contained within.
She has enjoyed creating individual commissions for clients, all over Melbourne, from a single piece to a collection for an entire home.
