Basic care for your cut flowers

by Suzi Tehan
Remove wrapping and re-cut the stems at an angle, 2-3 cm from its base. Remove any foliage that will be below the water to help keep the water clean.
Arrange in a vase with sufficient water to cover stems, and ensure it is placed away from direct sunlight, heat sources, or draughts.  If possible keep them away from fresh fruit, as they produce a gas called ethylene, which accelerates the aging process.
The cooler the room the longer the flowers will last.  Remove faded blooms to encourage existing buds to open.
We recommend changing the water every 2-3 days, as clean fresh water really is key. Enjoy!
